Placarded.com is a decision-support reference tool only. It is not a substitute for professional hazmat training, DOT-certified compliance review, or legal counsel. Users assume all legal responsibility for placard accuracy and regulatory compliance. Always verify results against current 49 CFR and TDG regulations before transport.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Placarded.com (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Placarded.com ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Nature of the Service — Decision-Support Tool

Placarded.com provides automated compliance reference information based on 49 CFR (U.S. DOT), PHMSA regulations, and Transport Canada TDG regulations as of March 2026. The Service is designed as a decision-support reference tool only and is not a substitute for:

  • Professional hazmat training or DOT-certified compliance review
  • Legal advice from a licensed attorney
  • Official guidance from DOT, PHMSA, or Transport Canada
  • Review by a certified Hazardous Materials Safety Professional (HMSP)

You assume all legal responsibility for the accuracy of placards, shipping documents, and regulatory compliance for any shipment. Placarded.com shall not be liable for any fines, penalties, enforcement actions, or damages arising from your use of this Service.

3. Compliance Pack Purchase — $39 One-Time Payment

The Compliance Pack is a one-time purchase of $39 USD. Upon successful payment via Stripe:

  • A Compliance Pack will be generated for the UN numbers you provided
  • The document will be emailed to the email address associated with your Stripe payment
  • A copy will be retained by Placarded.com as an internal transaction record
  • The document is accessible via the Retrieve My Pack page for 72 hours from the time of payment confirmation

All sales are final. No refunds under any circumstances. Payment constitutes acceptance of these terms. After the 72-hour access window closes, the document is no longer retrievable and a new order at full price is required. No exceptions or extensions are available.

4. Regulatory Accuracy & Limitations

The Service is based on 49 CFR and TDG regulations as of March 2026. Regulations change frequently. We make no warranty that the information provided is current, complete, or accurate at the time of your use. Specifically:

  • Fine amounts reflect March 2026 federal maximums ($102,348 per violation; $238,809 for severe harm per 49 CFR 107.329)
  • HM-265 Fuel Rule logic reflects the PHMSA Final Rule effective January 14, 2026
  • Canada TDG logic reflects SOR/2001-286 as amended through 2025
  • ERG data reflects the 2024 Emergency Response Guidebook

Always verify compliance with the most current version of applicable regulations before transport.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Placarded.com and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to:

  • DOT, PHMSA, or Transport Canada fines or penalties
  • Enforcement actions, citations, or vehicle out-of-service orders
  • Cargo damage, personal injury, or property damage
  • Loss of revenue, business interruption, or reputational harm

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Compliance Pack ($39 USD).

6. User Responsibilities

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that: (a) you are at least 18 years of age; (b) you have the authority to enter into these Terms; (c) you will use the Service only for lawful purposes; (d) you understand that the Service is a reference tool and will independently verify all compliance information before transporting hazardous materials; and (e) you will comply with all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws governing the transportation of hazardous materials.

7. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By making a purchase, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. We do not store your payment card information. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.

8. Privacy & Data

We collect the UN numbers you enter, your region selection, and your email address (from Stripe upon purchase) solely to generate and deliver your Compliance Pack. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Transaction records are retained for internal compliance and audit purposes.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, software, and materials on Placarded.com are the property of Placarded.com and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on this site without our express written permission.

10. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules.
